It's that time of year again to dig out our gardening gloves and welcome summer with a splash of colorful blooms. Once again, we have gone back to the same Ogden-based nursery. All orders will be available in time for Mother's Day. So treat yourself, your mom or a friend to some cheerful flowers and at the same time support the Salt Lake Alumnae Chapter.

We will not be sending out order forms in the mail this year, so make sure that if you know of anyone that would like to order and isn't on our email list to send an order for them. Remember that you can combine orders with someone - friends, family, or neighbors. They don't have to be DGs. If your order is above $75, then we will deliver your order to your home. If it is under $75 then you'll need to pick up your order at Brynn Nygren's Home

Founder's Day 2009

Thank you to all of the ladies who joined us for Founder's Day this year. It was a great event and I would like to thank Jacque Riehl and Riehl Events for donating their services for the event. We had a greek theme and all of the alumnae were recruited once again by the cute collegiates who sang recruitment songs throughout the brunch. Congratulations to our new 50 year members and all of our outstanding collegiates. These women exemplify the idea our founder's laid out many years ago. Please enjoy the pictures!

Founder's Day

Founder's Day help

Hello all fellow Alums!

We are getting geared up for the Founder's Brunch on March 7th at Market Street Grill in Cottonwood at 11am that day. However, we are in need of some help.

I am looking for people/companies to sponsor the day. With this sponsorship, we would take anything you would be willing to give, money or otherwise, for the day of the event. With that, your logo will be printed on all the stationary the day of, you are welcome to put something on the tables from your company, either little favors or otherwise the day of, and we will allow you to set up a table a the event promoting your company.

Any additional money we make on the day will be donated to the scholarship program being started for our local chapter, Beta Gamma at the University of Utah. These girls need our help to make it through these tough times and complete their education. It is our duty to support the fraternity the same way it has supported us for many years.

I know the economy is tough right now, but this is a really inexpensive way to get your name and company out to fellow DG's. I know if I have a choice, I do my business with a DG before someone else and I hope you do too! Also, keep in mind that whatever you donate is tax deductible as DG is a non profit organization and the additional monies will go to a scholarship fund.

Shop 'Til You Drop With the DG's

Collumnae speaker event with Maria Murnane

Collumnae speaker event

Dear Alumnae:

We would like to invite you to the Delta Gamma house for a very special collumnae (collegiate and alumnae) event. We are honored to be hosting a speaking event with Maria Murnane. Maria is a 1991 alum from UC Berkeley (Gamma) who recently published a romantic comedy novel. It is entitled "Perfect on Paper," and it's about a single woman in San Francisco whose life is hardly perfect. Maria describes the target audience as any woman who has ever had a really bad date or realized halfway through the work day that her skirt is on backwards. I am sure we all fall into this category.

This engagement will be held on February 2nd from 5:30-6:45 @ the Delta Gamma house on 1373 E. 100 S. We have also been invited to have dinner with the collegiates beforehand @ 5:30. This is such an excellent opportunity to support a fellow Delta Gamma and to get to spend time with our fabulous collegiates. If you have any questions please contact me. My information is below. Neighbor-to-Neighbor product drive

Hey ladies:

This holiday season the Delta Gamma alumnae group is going to help the United Way with their product drive for the neighbor-to-neigbor response program they have. It is a great opportunity for us to get our name out in the community and help out this holiday season. All the information is posted below about what items we are accepting. We also have a few drop off locations available for your convenience. All items must be dropped off by Dec. 6th. The effects of the economic crisis are all around us! United Way of Salt Lake is taking a proactive role in response to the serious challenges presented by the current economic crisis by coordinating donations of cash and products to distribute to our community's frontline nonprofit service providers. These increased resources will not only shore up those families and individuals who are struggling during this difficult time, but also create hope for a brighter future for us all. We are calling on individuals and organizations to get involved to help our neghbors from falling into further crisis.

Nonprofit organizations are in need of various products that support their mission, provide needed items for their clients, and reduce program costs.



Needed items:



Baby products - diapers, wet wipes, formula, baby food

Blankets - new and gently used

Clothing - new socks and underwear for children and adults

Food - canned food, foods high in protein (tuna fish, peanut butter, beans, canned fruits, vegetables, and soup)

Toilet paper

Fall Formal Volunteers

Hi ladies! We are currently looking for a couple volunteers to chaperone Fall formal for the collegiates. It is November 1st @ The Depot from 7-10 p.m. Even if you could only do half the night that would be fabulous. Please let me know if you are available.

DG collegiate Casino Night

Hey ladies!! The beautiful young ladies of our collegiate chapter are throwing a Casino night to fundraise money. It is this Monday, October 6 @ 8 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested to attend. DG convention '08

Hey Ladies! This is Shellie Simpson (pledge class '03) and I recently attended the Delta Gamma convention in Palm Desert California. It was fabulous and I learned a lot of great information that I would like to pass onto you and share some pictures. Here are some of the main changes and great new things I learned while at convention:

1. EO has launched a new social networking site just for Delta Gammas. If you go to the Anchor's Online website (www.deltagamma.org) you can click on the MyDG link to set up your account. It is similar to facebook and MySpace but exclusively for Delta Gammas. We will be creating an alumnae group on the site to inform everyone of upcoming events, birthdays, dues, etc.

2. EO will now be invoicing you for your per capita dues. This way you can pay online or send a check to them. This DOES NOT include your local chapter dues, which will be made payable to your local chapter treasurer. This is a great new way to help our local chapter know who is paying and possibly connect with sisters that are paying their per capita dues but are not involved or aware of our local chapter.

3. EO will be holding the first ever Helen Dunbar Lucas Alumnae Academy in Columbus, Ohio next year (April 17-19). All alumnae are invited to attend and the Delta Gamma Foundation will pay for one alumnae delagate to attend.

4. Congratulations! We were a recipient of the Alumnae excellence award!!

I am so excited for these changes and our new alumnae board. We are working hard to make the '08-'09 alumnae year the best ever! I lok forward to seeing all of you in the year to come!!
